leaving DA

Tue Oct 28, 2008, 9:29 PM
  • Mood: Rage
  • Watching: Dexter
  • Drinking: diet coke

this is bullshit...
I'm tired of getting emails about people using my photographs and i cant take any legal action because DA is anonymous and thus i have no name or location to go after.

I AM A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER PEOPLE!

i make my living with my skills as a photographer and with my work in photoshop. you take my work, you are taking away my means to earn a living. that and it is just plain offensive. maybe a few years ago i was a little photo student who probably didnt notice you were pulling my photos for your own devices but i now work for a Pro Studio people, i have shot for Adidas for crying out loud! worked on Reebok! Keen! ICON! and more!!! I am not that freakin naive and i'm tired of it. I kept my subscription and this gallery because i really enjoyed looking at other peoples work and to have an area for my personal work but its not worth it. sorry guys, once i hear from DA on my report of this latest offender my gallery will be gone. i will keep my subscription until it runs out this last time to look at other peoples work but will be a ghost on DA.

Goodbye and goodluck...

Oh Signalbox, i'm sending you email soon so we can keep in touch so look out for it within your loads of fan messages :)

Cheers,
Lulu

i'll write a nicer goodbye later...

You'll be missed, but your decision is understandable. Best of luck.

So sad to hear the net criminals have been at work with your images. I don't blame you for getting as far from them as possible. Good news that you're making a living from your skills (formidable skills indeed), with some nice clients!

You won't miss the plagiarists, but your DA friends will surely miss you! Good to hear you'll be staying in touch. I'll send you an email asap, and that book project is still on the cards :D

Down with art thieves! :stab:

We've all had our work ripped at one time of another. As long as our work is anywhere on the web, there's not much we can do to keep someone in, say, Dagestan, from stealing a photo and doing something with it. And we'll never know. But when someone rips your work on DA, you can just ask them to remove it. If they don't, then the DA admins will. Another way to protect against rips is to post images at the lowest screen resolution and with a small image size. So, the people ripping can't really reproduce the image the way you can with the original.
:iconedaoust:
I'm really sorry to read that... I really like what you do and will miss seeing your work here but having been ripped off a few times here myself, I totally understand how you feel... :(

Well I wish you all the best and hope that at some point the situation here will have changed so you can come back...

Im so limited on DA i only upload bullshit, I work as a Documentary photographer and sell my work, but my real work, my good work is on my website. So i just ask myself why have DA. I dont sell prints on DA I just kinda socialize, but Im not the virtual social kinda person.

Do you realize the image that was ripped has been removed, probably by the ripper himself?

If you encounter this in the future, do not tip them off about it because that only encourages them to remove it of their own, thus denying them being caught in the act so to speak.

Or if you do, be sure to make a print screen capture prior to.

I hope you don't leave dA because of this but I certainly can't begrudge you for it.

Always open to working w/ adventurous subjects (particularly if you're in Northern NY) who are brave enough to be in front of my camera. Interested? :devart: note me at your leisure & maybe we can figure something out.
:iconsemi234:
BTW, just be thankful that dA's rip reporting policies aren't as draconian as Flickr's. On that site, only the rip victim is able to report their stolen work.
